33 individuals killed, more than 80 injured as 10 carriages of a passenger train derail in Pakistan

 The accident happened near the Sahari Railway Station, located between Shahzadpur and Nawabshah in Pakistan.



After the derailment and overturning of 10 carriages of the Hazara Express, traveling to Rawalpindi in Pakistan, at least 33 people were killed and more than 80 were injured.

According to Geo TV's news report, the incident occurred near the Sahiwal Railway Station between Shahzadpur and Nawab Shah.

The Hazara Express was en route from Karachi to Rawalpindi.

Mahmood Rahman, Deputy Superintendent of Pakistan Railways, stated, 'Currently, the focus is on rescuing people from the overturned compartments and those trapped in the wreckage.' He further mentioned that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Visuals have shown the efforts of rescue workers and police personnel extracting individuals from the overturned compartments through the tracks, working alongside civilians who were also engaged in the rescue operation.



According to the report by Geo TV, the affected individuals have been transported to Nawab Shah's Peoples Medical Hospital. As of now, the exact cause of the derailment remains unknown.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pakistan's Minister of Railways, suggested that a "mechanical failure or sabotage" could be potential causes of the accident. Following the incident, emergency protocols have been activated in nearby hospitals."
