In Eastern Monmouth County, there is a possibility of flash floods after thunderstorms with intense rainfall.
As of 5:30 PM, there was a flash flood warning in effect for Eastern Monmouth County, following the rapid thunderstorms in the area.
Between 1:00 PM and 1:22 PM, there had already been rainfall ranging between 1 to 1.5 inches in Eastern Monmouth County. According to the National Weather Service, there was a possibility of an additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall in the area during the afternoon and evening.
The Weather Service predicts that the flash floods may affect streams, rivers, streets, highways, underpasses, low-lying areas, and locations with poor drainage.
As per the Mount Holly Station of the Weather Service, the potential for flash floods exists in places like Long Branch, West Long Branch, Sea Bright, Middletown, Tinton Falls, Holmdel, Red Bank, Eastern Freehold, and Eatontown, as well as the surrounding areas.
Residents are advised to avoid driving on flooded streets and roads, and should not attempt to access blocked roads. In the event of sudden flash floods, it is recommended to seek higher ground immediately.
